| It's a familiar setting for Horror fans. In the German province of Bavaria in the 1830s, fear and superstition run rife among a village community. The disappearance of several young girls feeds suspicion that a legendary demon is again at work in the surrounding forest. But in a nearby castle Count Zorn keeps his son Emil and daughter Elizabeth virtual prisoners from the outside world. And when Dr Falkenberg, a hypnotist, is called upon to unlock the family secrets, it is to discover that the demons that strike, the monsters that lurk, are those that torture an agonised mind. |
