Synopsis

This third and in some ways finest remake of the classic Raymond Chandler story casts Robert Mitchum as the tough, cynical, laconic private eye Philip Marlowe - a man never prepared to take anything at face value, even when the face has a bullet hole through it. Los Angeles of the 1940's is depicted with the same gritty realism as Marlowe takes on the job of finding Velma, the girl friend of giant con Moose Molloy, who's just been released from jail and is not prepared to take no for an answer, even from Marlowe.
