Synopsis

"Track Record" is an intimate film portrait of Joan Armatrading and her music.

In September 1983 Joan returned to St. Kitts, the Caribbean island where she was born, to take part as a guest of honour in their independence celebrations. There, she was able to retrace her past, visiting the house where she was born and had the opportunity to talk candidly about her life, her career and her music.
The songs themselves are represented by many of her classic promotional films and videos. The film then follows Joan on part of her recent US. tour travelling in the bands bus, backstage at concerts, and even into Joan's hotel room as she composes a new song, "Heaven". It then joins her in the studio in London to record the song and another new title, "Frustration."
The programme ends with a specially recorded live performance in Sydney, Australia, at the climax of a seven month long, sold out, 1983 world tour.
"Track Record" is a 75 minute film full of unique moments and featuring the best of Joan Armatrading's music on video so far. It gives a rare opportunity to see every side of one of the worlds most successful and most private, recording artists.
