Synopsis

That is the movie!
Mel Brooks has got the Bard by the beard in this screamingly funny comedy that has very little do with Shakespeare but whose plot twists might be making him turn over in his grave with laughter. To Be Or Not To Be follows the adventures of two World War II actors, Frederick Bronski (Mel Brooks), who modestly bills himself as 'World famous in Poland,' and his wife, Anna (Anne Bancroft) who fights a never ending battle with him for her spot in the limelight. Their fighting really heats up when they both get caught up in Germany's invasion of Poland, a leaking of top secret information and an incredible plot to thwart the Nazis. With Charles Durning (in his Academy Award nominated role) as an SS colonel who has a lot of trouble getting his fat thigh on his desk, it's Mel Brooks at his brilliant best - you'll laugh 'til the tears stream down your cheeks.
