Synopsis

The most revered melody of the Christmas season is the exquisite "Silent Night". This animated film version tells how it came to be written in Oberndorf, Germany in the late 19th century. The village organist sets out to find a replacement part for the church organ as Christmas approaches. As the result of an accident deep in the wintry Tyrolean mountains, the organ cannot be repaired and he is forced to improvise. The result is the haunting melody the boys' choir sings. The characters are beautifully created, the colours are magnificent and beloved melodies known to all are threaded throughout this unique film, based on fact and "come alive" in a superb creation.
