'Malpertuis' an evil old mansion lost in the middle of an abandoned area and continually swathed in mist. Long corridors and never ending doors, innumerable secret alcoves, its wonderful gardens with their air of tragedy, the mirror of a lifeless pond and its dizzy staircases. Locked into this stifling atmosphere are three strange women each very different from the other and the dying owner of Malpertuis who collects stuffed animals and locks up human beings as reincarnations of the gods of yore. Joining the 'family' through force is Yann the nephew, of Cassave, the owner, in order that he can be present to hear the last wishes of his dying uncle.
