Synopsis

A dramatic change of pace for Blake Edwards, the hugely successful director of so many hilarious comedies, 'The Carey Treatment' is a contemporary suspense story set amongst the wards and corridors of a large Boston hospital. James Coburn plays Peter Carey, M.D. Arriving at the hospital from the coast to take up a position as resident pathologist, Carey soon discovers that it is the medical profession, not the patients, who are in urgent need of treatment. Behind the starched white coats and calm bedside manner a drama is taking place -- abortion becomes murder and a brilliant surgeon's career is laid on the line as the search for a scapegoat threatens everyone. 'The Carey Treatment' also features the beautiful Jennifer O'Neill, star of the super-successful 'Summer of '42' and veteran stage and screen actor, Pat Hingle.
