Synopsis

Set amongst the sandy coves and lush green fields of England's West Country, 'International Velvet' is the sequel to one of the screen's all-time classics, 'National Velvet'. The time is now and Velvet Brown, just a young girl in the original movie, is a grown woman living quietly alone with her memories. Into her life comes Sarah Brown, an orphaned American girl with a love of horses and suddenly Velvet's ambition is rekindled - though it is not for herself that she wants success this time, but for Sarah. The film stars Tatum O'Neal as Sarah, a remarkable performance that sees her making the six year transition from uncertain teenager with braces on her teeth to the poised young horsewoman taking her place in the British Olympic Team. Also starring are Nanette Newman as Velvet and Christopher Plummer as a writer who plays a large part in helping young Sarah realise her dreams. Directed by Bryan Forbes, 'International Velvet' is a great film for all the family - romantic, exciting, entertaining.
