Synopsis

Anthony Page directed this George Axelrod adaptation of Hitchcock's 1938 original. The result is a scintillating romantic comedy thriller set aboard a train travelling through Bavaria on the eve of World War II. Elliot [sic] Gould heads the international star cast as the Life Magazine reporter who is drawn (much against his will) into the search for the benign English nanny (Angela Lansbury) who has disappeared in mysterious circumstances. A witty and sophisticated film in the best comedy thriller tradition. A Hammer film
