Synopsis

Most men dream their fantasies. Phillip decided to live his.
John Cassavetes is Phillip Dimitrious, the consummate dissatisfied man in this extraordinary comedy. No longer able to tolerate the compromises he has made, Phillip flees from his stormy marriage to Antonia (Gena Rowlands). He wants to wander and dream; so with his teenage daughter Miranda (Molly Ringwald), he heads for Greece. There he meets Aretha (Susan Sarandon), the spirited woman who becomes his mistress. They achieve a fragile tranquillity on a nearly-deserted Greek island. The island's sole inhabitant, Kalibanos (Raul Julia), is a lonely shepherd who tries to lure Miranda into his cave to see his Sony Television. The tranquillity is broken, however, when Antonia, searching for Miranda, arrives on a boat and is enveloped in a "magical" storm.
