Synopsis

A man runs through the concrete tunnel under the stands. His style is easy and relaxed, and as he comes out of the tunnel onto the track of the capacity-filled stadium, one hundred thousand spectators rise from their seats. John will win the race, A gold medal for America. He has left 42 kilometers [sic] and all the other competitors behind. The nation cheers its new idol. John has always been the fastest. Whilst the other run for athletic success, John runs for his self-respect, and the attention of a girl who live near by. He fights his parents' lack of understanding. He fights a deep inner conflict. There is only one way for him to triumph over his personal handicap - to be the fastest. John needs to be first every time, or he must face the cruel punishment that awaits him out on the street.
