Synopsis

Walther Matthau and Glenda Jackson are together in a hilarious spy chase that pits both the CIA and the KGB against Matthau's devious mind. The trouble starts when Matthau as CIA agent Miles Kendig falls foul of his superiors. He vanishes and decides to get back at them by writing his memoirs. The first chapter is sent out to all the world's agencies - and the word comes round that this is just too hot to handle. Kendig has to be found and killed. Aided by Glenda Jackson, as a former CIA agent herself, he leads his pursuers on a wild goose chase through Europe and the States. Always one step ahead, Matthau shows the sort of cunning that has made his screen performances sheer delight. In a tale full of surprises and gags, Matthau and Jackson effortlessly shine in one of the most entertaining partnerships since the vintage team of Tracy and Hepburn.
