Synopsis

The Klassic Keystone Komedy Kapers are timeless in appeal…unique in entertainment charm.

Over twenty stars of the silent screen feature in this classic series of comedies which has come down to us from the earliest days of Hollywood. They show the unique mastery of the great clowns of the era — Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin, Fatty Arbuckle, Chester Conklin — as well as the talents of a whole host of amazingly gifted lesser figures. These films have not been screened since before the First World War. For a long time the were lost in the archives of the American Library of Congress, where they were eventually discovered by the noted film historian and technical expert, Kemp Niver. Unfortunately, the films had not been properly stored and had suffered some damage. However, Niver managed to devise a special process and to restore the pictures to their original state. He was awarded an Oscar in 1956 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for his magnificent work in rescuing these early masterpieces.
