Synopsis

"Little Lord Fauntleroy" unites the exceptional talents of Sir Alec Guinness and little Ricky Schroder in one of the most touching of all screen partnerships. Based on the popular Victorian nursery classic and filmed in Belvoir Castle, one of the finest stately homes, it tells the story of young Ceddie Errol, who travels to England from his poor New York home to perpare [sic] to take on the title and duties of his ageing grandfather, the Earl of Dorincourt. Gouty, monocled and about as welcoming as a cold bath on a wet January day, it is hard to imagine how the old patriarch could ever be the object of a child's keen affections, bu Ceddie is so kind and fond and giving that eventually the warmth is restored to his grandad's crusty old heart.
