Synopsis

Dallas-style dramas rumble the quaint Scottish village of Furness in this highly acclaimed British comedy from Gregory's Girl director, Bill Forsyth. Oil tycoon, astronomy freak and the subject of some pretty peculiar psychoanalysis, Felix Happer (Burt Lancaster) has plans to transform the Bay of Furness into a giant oil processing plant. Contrary to expectation, the eccentric local residents are only to eager to oblige with the sale of their homes - but for a sole dissenter, the beachcomber.
