Synopsis

The emotional explosion is hers. The emotional experience is yours.
At the age of 35 Miss Wyckoff, a schoolteacher, is still a virgin. Her Psychiatrist probes her past and discovers a childhood experience involving her parents which could well be responsible for her sexual denial and lonely lifestyle. Miss Wyckoff is raped by the black janitor - as this event keeps recurring, Miss Wyckoff becomes very emotional and the black janitor becomes more violent. After a couple of students discover her activities she is forced to leave her job and tells her closest friend that what happened to her was inevitable, she wouldn't change it and felt no shame. Following her experiences, Miss Wyckoff becomes a different woman, more assured, more confident, more fulfilled and much more a woman. A new American classic adapted from the only novel ever written by the Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright William Inge, author of PICNIC, BUS STOP, DARK AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS, AND SPLENDOR IN THE GRASS. Produced by Raymond Stross. Directed by Marvin Chomsky, whose HOLOCAUST continues to create international shockwaves.
