Synopsis

Two deadly enemies face each other again - after a century!
Titans of Terror Christopher Lee and Peter Cushing are thrillingly reunited in this tense and scary Hammer horror movie which the Los Angeles Times called "A witty, successful attempt to bring the old Transylvanian vampire into present day London". The film opens superbly with an exciting battle in 1872 London between Dracula and his arch-enemy Van Helsing which results In the vampire being destroyed - for the time being! But, one hundred years later, Dracula is brought back to horrifying life by a group of trendy young people who conduct a black mass in the desanctified Chelsea church of St Botolph's. Without wasting any time the evil Count embarks on a bloody reign of terror as he sets out to avenge himself on the descendants of the man who ended his life a century ago. Lee and Cushing are in top form as Dracula and Van Helsing and good support comes from Stephanie Beacham as Cushing's granddaughter, Michael Coles and Christopher Neame. Director Alan Gibson makes the most of Don Houghton's suspenseful script and, said the Evening News, "I am glad to acclaim Dracula A.D. 1972 by the old firm of Hammer as a clear winner".
