Synopsis

National Lampoon sends up Hollywood sky high! Be ready to split your sides at a hilarious feast of zany comedy in the great tradition of National Lampoon's Animal House and National Lampoon's Vacation in this hugely entertaining movie that offers three laughter-packed voyages into the realm of mad farce for the price of one. The first, Growing Yourself, stars Peter Riegert (the hero of Local Hero) in a lively spoof of the kind of cinematic self-analysis played straight in such films as An Unmarried Woman, sending his wife, Candy Clark. away so that they can both succeed in "finding" themselves. In The Success Wanters, which wittily sends up glamour-success stones in the style of Harold Robbins and Sidney Sheldon. Ann Dusenberry plays a young woman who schemes to become a margarine magnate and put the butter tycoons out of business, guying such films as The Betsy, The Greek Tycoon, Bloodline and even Emmanuelle, with comic gusto in the process. And. The Municipalians, Robby Benson as a goody-goody young Los Angeles policeman teamed with cynical veteran cop Richard Widmark, makes the most of the enjoyable parody of the kind of hard-hitting police stories pioneered by Joseph Wambaugh of The New Centurions fame. Fast-paced direction, inspired scripting and sharp comic performances make National Lampoon's Movie Madness a must.
