Synopsis

One in a series of Fishing Skills on video from TFI Leisure
Filmed in Fermanagh Lakeland, Northern Ireland, Ian Heaps, the former World Champion, demonstrates in detail three methods of pole fishing to suit the various conditions you are likely to come across. The first shown is the long pole/short line method, demonstrating a means to slow the bait up and therefore presenting it in a natural manner whatever the conditions. Then in conditions with a gentle upstream wind Ian demonstrates the long line method. Finally the waggler method is explained with the line sunk between base of float and tip of pole, eliminating any wind or surface drifts - an ideal method for still water. Ian gives background information and advice on preparing the line, the choice of ground bait, float choice, shotting, plumbing the depth and preparing and choosing bait while fishing for bream, roach and hybrids.
