FOR AN EX VIETNAM WAR HERO, THERE'S ONLY ONE THING WORTH FIGHTING FOR

The future of Vietnam veteran Merle Banks (Gregory Harrison) and his father Henry (Pat Hingle) seems shattered when the local mill closes. Henry gives up looking for work. Merle works as a bellboy and his wife Rindy (Glynnis O'Connor) helps out working as a beautician. Despite Merle's hatred of violence and brutality, he decides to enter the local Brawlers' Boxing Competition for the prize-money. Merle wins his first match and in a peak of excitement, insists upon continuing his boxing career to championship level. Rindy discovers she is pregnant and demands that Merle quits fighting. Merle decides on the best…for him and her…
